Audio

When customizing any vehicle just about everyone asks themselves, 'Is this something I can install or should a seek a professional shop for installation?'

When it came to the electronics as far as audio regarding this 2014 Dodge Challenger RT, a professional shop was the right choice. After searching websites for hours on end viewing products and pricing, more knowledge was gained in the first five minutes speaking with the knowledgeable staff at Freeman's Car Stereo.

Their very nice show room displayed the finest in product from leading manufacturers in the audio aftermarket. From subwoofers to CD players to Navigation systems and car alarms, Freeman's show room displayed it all and in working function so you could operate and listen to the product before purchase. They displayed prices by each product which was ideal unlike some installation centers where you have to ask the price which the counter sales guy gets from behind the counter from some black book.

Freeman's staff was on point, knowing all the functions of each product and what production vehicles the product would be installed in. Robert Palmer, Freeman's Concord Store Manager, knew the 2014 Challenger RT hosted steering wheel controls for the radio as well as voice dialing. He explained that the Pioneer head unit would require an extra control module to utilize this on the new unit and was upfront on the cost to maintain this function. This eliminated the disappointment of non-working steering control functions or a higher priced bill that thought at the end of the installation.

Robert continued into all the functions this new Pioneer head unit offered. He had all the installation parts in stock for our application. In fact he stocked just about every installation part needed for just about every vehicle on the road today. On top of that Freeman's had ready to go sub woofer boxes and plenty of top of the line amp and sub woofers to place in them. Whether crisp, clean sound was your direction or window flexing, piss your neighbor off  bass was your goal... Freeman's can facilitate your every desire.

Now when it came to Freeman's installation technicians, experience is the first word that came to mind. Customers are not usually allowed back int the installation area, but Robert pulled a few strings and invited a first hand look at the installation of this Pioneer head unit in this 2014 Challenger.

Freeman's Installation Technician, Chad West, (left) getting the new Pioneer head unit ready for installation and (right) removing the stock radio head unit.
Having a special front row seat in watching what all goes into the installation of a cutting edge head unit was a bit nail-biting at times. Seeing anyone start taking apart the interior of a brand new vehicle can be a bit nerve racking. A quick prayer to the car gods was whispered hopping no part would be broken during the removal phase of the trim pieces.

It was soon made clear there was little to fear. Freeman's Installation Technician, Chad West, obviously had installed a few radios over the years. Over 20 years in the car audio field to be more accurate. His years of experience meant that this new 2014 Challenger RT posed no threat. With in 10 minutes he had the center console apart and the factory radio unit unhooked. It was like watching brain surgery. Wires and connections going this way and that way, yet Chad knew where every wire went to as well as what to cut and what NOT to cut. He was patient in answering a few of our questions and even went into explaining some functions of the head unit such as routing the over head speaker for the Pioneer's Bluetooth feature and how to operate it.

Brian Rawlings, Freeman's Assistant Manager, even showed us some features into linking cell phone apps such as Pandora to this new Pioneer unit. Their are a lot of stereo installers out there, but it can be attested first hand that Freeman's Car Stereo provides quality products from top manufacturers as well as some of the most experienced installation technicians in the south east. This provides great confidence knowing your vehicle is being handled by professionals.

Now we can continue putting more miles on this 2014 Challenger RT and listen to some great sounding music while we do it!
